Do I need to use a serum? Tips from Remi Organics

Do I need to use a serum?

Do you need to use a serum as well as a moisturiser? The answer is absolutely yes. Moisturisers are designed to moisturise and hydrate your skin. A serum is formulated for a specific concern in your skin.

They contain high levels of active ingredients to target the specific needs of your skin - they act as a corrective step in your skincare routine. You may want a serum to help reduce fine lines and signs of aging, or to decrease hyperpigmentation or to help with acne and scarring. So when you're shopping for a serum, be sure to look for your skincare needs for your skin. Don't buy just because a friend said they liked a product. What does your skin need?

Serums come in many forms - gels, oils or creams. They are usually light weight. Always add your lighter products before heavier ones so your skin absorbs the product quicker. Your skin shouldn't feel like you have a thick layer sitting on it, so make sure your chosen serum is light to apply.

When should you use a serum?

Some serums should only be applied either in the morning or evening, but most are applied morning and night. Be sure to check the instructions on the pack before using. The serum should be applied after your cleanse and toner (if you're using one) and before your moisturiser and/or sunscreen.

Some ingredients don't have an effect on your skin immediately, so it can take 6-12 weeks to see results - licorice extract and Vitamin C are two examples that take time to have an effect on your skin.

Remi Organics Marine Serum is a light weight, non-sticky emulsion, that plumps and smoothes the skin. It reduces redness and hyperpigmentation while revitalising the skin, making it glow. It's packed full of extracts - licorice, white tea, goji berry, astaxanthin and our specially formulated marine blend. It's a drink of vitamins, minerals and amino acids for your skin and is made with all natural ingredients.
